Thrive Together

We’re offering opportunity to join a supportive group for discussing animal training and behaviour cases together, with a view to sharing ideas and links to resources, including publications. All sessions facilitated by the clinical team at the Pet Behaviour Company (PetBC).

What are we offering?
Here at PetBC we have weekly case discussions where as a team, we share thoughts and bounce ideas about behaviour cases off one another. We’re all reading papers and attending different CPD events which give us different views and perspectives which are incredibly useful when shared and applied to cases in these sessions together. Our team work makes the problems easier to work through and is invaluable to us.

We know working in this field can be tough, with self doubt creeping in at times. For us, being part of a supportive network helps manage this and the associated pressures. We’ve always encouraged collaboration and sharing, not just within our team but locally and our aim is to maintain this ethos going forwards.

Whether you want to listen and absorb or explore aspects of a particular case, we aim to provide a supportive environment for you to do this. These sessions work best for groups and to get the most out of them, there will be a cap on numbers. Places will be on a first come basis, and you can sign up as often as you’d like. Would you like support and opportunity to discuss behaviour cases within a small and friendly group setting with no ongoing commitment, join as and when you'd like to? Then you're in the right place.

What will be covered in the sessions?
Whatever animal behaviour and training topics you would like to discuss!

We are happy to discuss any areas of case management related to animal behaviour and training. Please note that Lynn will likely be facilitating the majority of sessions and if one of our veterinary behaviourists attends a session, general veterinary behaviour principles may be discussed but these cannot be taken as recommendations on any cases due to vets only being able to make specific recommendations for animals actively under their care. We can however discuss how to communicate any potential concerns or observations to different parties involved in cases, and any references which may be helpful to include.

Who are the sessions for?
For dog training and/or behaviour professionals who want a safe place to discuss training and behaviour cases in a supportive and friendly group setting. All sessions are facilitated by active and experienced clinicians from the Pet Behaviour Company.

If you are unsure if this support is right for you, please contact us so we can discuss further: admin@petbc.co.uk

Session dates:
Online 7pm (UK time) and runs for up to 2 hours on the first Wednesday of each month.

Location:
Online through our online learning platform. Once access for the month is purchased, you will need to enrol onto the class for that month.

Availability:
Limited spaces each session.

Session cost:
£25 per session. This gives you attendance for up to 2 hours at the session you book onto.

The small print:
To allow for free speech during these sessions, they will not be recorded. For this reason, live attendance is encouraged.

You can participate as much or as little as you would like during the online session. If you have specific questions about case management, there should be opportunity to explore these within the session you have booked onto.

Please note that case details should be discussed anonymously.

Ideas or resources which are shared within a session, if applied to a case are at the responsibility of the lead on that case. Individuals at Pet Behaviour Company although facilitating these sessions are not responsible for cases which have not been referred to us directly. As such, we request that if you take any ideas away from these support sessions, these are presented as your ideas to any parties involved in the case e.g. client, vet, other professionals, and not as ideas from individuals who attended the online sessions. This is of particular importance should any veterinary terminology or related topics arise, as veterinary behaviourists working within Pet Behaviour Company cannot make specific recommendations for animals which have not been referred to us and are not actively under our care. We are however happy to discuss general principles and aid in how to communicate observations or concerns to different parties involved in cases.

Please note that sessions are non-refundable. If you cannot make the session you have booked for any reason, and can provide us with at least 24 hours notice, if we can, we will try and move you to another session.

Who is facilitating the online sessions?
The sessions will be facilitated and hosted by individuals who are clinically active and experienced both theoretically as well as practically working with a wide range of animals and problem behaviours.
For more information about any of the instructors who may be present at sessions, please click on their names: Lynn Hewison, Miri Prior or Himara Van Haevermaet.
